Music 4 Mental Health is a division of The Heart of Virginia Foundation Inc. a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, created by founder Tommy Edwards in the wake of the shootings at his alma mater, Virginia Tech that left 33 dead, many more wounded, and a community reeling, as a way help the community heal and to raise awareness for a need for better mental health education and services, and by diminishing stigma to build bridges of understanding.
As 1 in 4 Americans lives with mental illness daily and as our culture becomes more complex as the pace of life continues to increase, we must create clearer understanding of mental and emotional health and well being across every facet of American culture. 75% of life long mental illness manifests between the ages of 17-24 years old! Help us educate communities across the United States and beyond! |
